100th BLOG!!!

This is a long one... but exciting ;)

*******
First off...

Hello all!

As most of you may know, Steven, and I are engaged!

At the beginning of February, I entered, Steven and I into a "couples photo contest", and we happen to win a free mini photo session!
It was scheduled for this past Saturday, following Valentines Day.

We woke up, got ready, waited around for my brother Sam to get off work so we could head to Lubbock for a late lunch with him, and his family.
(Our photo session wasn't until 5pm)

We get to Lubbock, and the clothes I took for the photo session were just not weather appropriate, it was 80 degrees, and I took clothes for 30 degrees!

So we stopped by the mall.......mind you, I'm not a fan of shopping.
I went into FOREVER21, Steven & Bon did their own thing, and avoided FOREVER21, I grabbed the first cute shirt I saw, went to try it on, it was perfect, annnnd it was $7.80, which made it even more perfect, I checked out, and left the mall and we headed for Rosas Cafe for our late lunch ate with my brother, sister in law, and nephews....

We ate. Chatted awhile. And decided to go out to their horse pens with them to see Taegan and Tucker's pony "little bit".....

I took my nephews, and Bonnie on a little pony ride, and then we watched my brothers normal size horse, chase Little Bit around the arena,
(shrugs)
we thought it was funny, and worth watching for 15 plus minutes....

4:30pm rolls around, and we needed to head to the opposite side of town for our pictures, so that's what we did....

We get to our meeting place with the photographer, and we begin our photo session,
we did a lot of face to face pictures, and so of course Steven, and I would talk when we were face to face,
I asked him why he was shaking so much,
he shrugged his shoulders,
and said "ehh it's just really hot out here",
I completely agreed, and didn't think anything more of it,
(that was at the first scene.)

At the second scene, she told us to hold hands, I noticed that his hands were extremely clammy, and I thought to myself, he's hot, and that was that, didn't think anything more of it....

We move a long to the third, and Bonnie's helping the photographer make us smile, she did such a good job at that,

and then we move to our last scene to pose in front of,
and it called for a face to face picture,
Steven, very strangely starts a conversation, with
"Malorie (gulp)... Will you spend the rest of your life with me?"
I replied yes, and hugged him, thinking this was just one of our normal conversations, because we always discuss spending the rest of our lives with one another.

 Little did I know.

He begins fidgeting around in his pocket, at this time I hear something fall onto the floor which happen to be something Bonnie was playing with,
but I did not know that, I thought it might have been whatever it was Steven was looking for in his pocket,
so I'm looking behind me on the ground, still not looking at Steven,
I ask him if he dropped something,
and when I'm in mid turn, to turn and face him he replied,
 "I, I don't know? It's in my hand",
(in my head I'm like "what? You don't know?
You don't know if you dropped something?
What's in your hand"
& now I'm completely facing him)
he is down on one knee,
holding a ring in his hand,
and in a very shaky,
nervous voice,
that I've never heard come from his mouth.....
ever...
he proceeds to utter out,
"baby, please marry me.... Will you marry me,..??"

I just began to cry, a lot,
and then we hugged,
and he cried,
then the photographer cried,
people on the highway stopped, and cried with us,
there was a train passing, & it stopped,
....... and I'm obviously kidding.

But seriously, I did cry, a lot...
and we did hug... A lot,
and,
I said yes!

(Praise report: I just have to say praise The Lord for fake eyelashes, because I had no running mascara!)

All of that obviously took longer for you to read,
than it did taking place in real life,
it all happen so fast, but it was all so lovely, and so perfect

I knew that my heavenly Father knew all along what I was looking for in a mate.
His plans were even greater than my own.
Sure, I had a list of what I hoped I'd find, but God had a list too.
Turns out the kind of ideal mate He had in mind for me was far superior to what I had in mind.

What do I mean by God's idea of ideal?
Simple.
Someone who will love me the way Christ loved the church.
Someone who will provide spiritual leadership in our home and who will lead by example.
Someone who cherishes me and would give his life for me.
God knew exactly what I needed when he picked Steven for me.
He knew my good traits and bad.
He knew my quirks, my personality, my habits, and my mannerisms.
And He had the ideal man in mind for me.

Lord, thank You for bringing the ideal man into my life.

(i read this last part of my blog off of Mo Ism's blog, she just recently got engaged, and it hit very close to home and I couldn't re-word it for the better even if I tried, it's perfect)

It is rather overwhelming, to me, that God would allow me–messy, baggage-carrying, selfish, emotional, over thinking, needy, sensitive me–to have the honor and privilege of loving and caring for His sweet child, Steven. I know that the minute I believe I’m capable of selflessly and unconditionally loving Steven, I will fail. But it brings the sweetest joy to my heart to know that I don’t have to go at it alone.
That God is with me. God is with Steven and I,
And through Him, all things are possible.
“Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible. But with God all things are possible.” -Matthew 19:26

Marriage is a taste. A tiny, intimate taste, of God’s love for us. It is a promise that is not taken lightly because, ultimately, it is a promise to accept another and love another like God loves us, daily.
Think about that, to accept and love another like God loves us, daily.
It is nothing we can even come close to doing on our own.
And THAT is the joy of saying “yes” to the proposal.
Not that we have found the “perfect person”, but that we are a step closer to drawing back a layer and getting to see God’s perfect love played out in a beautiful way in our lives.

I am excited about marrying Steven,
because he is NOT the perfect man for me.
And I am NOT the perfect woman for him.
But we are both committed to following the PERFECT King who showed us the perfect example of how to love.

(more details coming soon.......)
